I had the opportunity to photograph some bowls turned by Tom Grzybala from wood that I supplied him from Zambezi Exotics. Tom is a member of my Woodturning Club and I’ve always admired his work.
The first bowl is from Hard Pear. The wood is beautiful and the shape of the bowl is really nice. Hard Pear (Olinia ventosa) is a very hard and tough wood, but not very heavy. The timber often has a slightly striped or mottled figure. It planes to a lustrous finish.
The hollow form is made from White Stinkwood with a Rosewood lid.
